Professional Training for Aircraft Maintenance

  

History

      With the blooming of the aviation industry throughout the world, and especially in Asia, Aircraft Maintenance Department and Avionics Department were founded in 1990 by Mr. Chao-chin Wei, President of Shin-shing Technical and Commercial High School.  Mr. Wei foresaw continued growth with economic impact and job generation in this field, as well as the exciting employment opportunities for Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMT).

Program Philosophy

    The students receive a solid foundation of aircraft maintenance and of avionics to fully develop professional skills.  The curriculum is a systematic approach which specifies the entire understanding, skills and attitude for Aviation Maintenance Technician.  Overall, the curriculum is designed to prepare students with skills and knowledge for entry level employment concerned with aviation maintenance occupations.  

       The baseline of subjects was approved by the Ministry of Education of Republic of Taiwan.  FAA aviation maintenance training material is adopted as one of the curriculum.  It prepares the students to acquire the fundamental knowledge about aviation maintenance.  The objective is to train students as an Aviation Maintenance Technician with the ability to inspect, maintain, and repair aircraft, as well as to pass the required tests.

Equipment

 -  The training fleet of 4 aircraft including Cessna 421, two   Cessna 150, and O-1

 -  13 Reciprocating engines

 -  5 turbo-jet engines and 2 turbo-propeller engines

 -  1 J-34 turbo-jet engine ground test cart

 -  1 Flight simulator

 -  1 Low speed wind tunnel

 -  12 aircraft systems training aids (including fuel systems, hydraulic systems, ice     and rain persistent systems, landing gear systems, instrument systems, electric systems, oxygen systems, and environmental control systems)

 -  24 Fundamental industrial manufacturing machines

-            Eddy current testers

Cooperation with Aviation Industry

 -         China Airlines offers scholarship for students before entering the company as formal employees after graduation.

-         EVA Airlines offers graduates for practical training and formal training.

-         Air Force Aviation Technical School provides the seniors with two-week flight system familiarization training course.

-         Army Communication Department provides the seniors at Avionics with four-week aviation communication training course.

Faculties are sent to International Aviation and Travel Academy in Texas for FAA aviation maintenance training in summer.

 

Recognition

     The achievement in aviation maintenance training at Shin-shing is highly recognized by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Bureau of Chinese Civil Aviation (BCCA), the Committee of Aviation and Space Industry Development (CASID), the aircraft industries and educators in Taiwan and from other countries.

 

Ultimate Goal

Our goal is to meet all standards established by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Part 147 of the Federal Aviation Regulations FAR for Aviation Maintenance Technician Schools and to set up a standard aviation maintenance center approved by FAA. This make it possible to provides rigorous theoretical study and hands-on training equipment for potential students in the fields of airframe and powerplant maintenance.
